BIP 176 (Bits Denomination)

Proposed using ‘bits’ (1 μBTC) as a user-friendly unit for smaller denominations of Bitcoin.

BIP 176, found in BIP-176, suggests that instead of talking about ‘0.0001 BTC,’ users might find it easier to say ‘100 bits.’ Since 1 bit = 100 satoshis, it’s a more human-scale unit than the full BTC, which can be worth thousands of dollars.

Despite the straightforward premise, the idea hasn’t gained universal adoption. Different wallets and services use different ways of showing sub-Bitcoin amounts, including satoshis (the smallest unit). Still, BIP 176 underlines ongoing efforts to make Bitcoin more approachable for newcomers who might find decimal points confusing.
