Audiobook Model (Lightning)
Think of the audiobook model like dropping coins into a jukebox one track at a time, except here it’s done seamlessly with Lightning micropayments. Rather than paying for the entire content upfront, listeners can continuously pay fractions of a cent per minute or per second of audio. If they pause or stop listening, the payments stop.
This model benefits both consumers and creators: users pay only for what they actually consume, and creators can monetize content continuously without relying on ads or subscriptions. Although it’s still an emerging concept, it highlights the real-world potential of Bitcoin’s Lightning Network to facilitate extremely small (and frequent) payments, something that traditional payment rails struggle to do economically.
